摘要： Background: Statistics indicate a high prevalence of TBI in South Africa, with many individuals with TBI not returning to work. The lack of return to work among TBI survivors is particularly due to factors such as injury severity, preinjury educational and occupational status, and age at injury. However, in addition to the above factors, there was the COVID-19 pandemic, which resulted in the de-escalation of nonessential outpatient services in order to assist with curbing the spread of the ***: The aim of the article is to explore the experiences and perceptions of TBI survivors about accessing vocational rehabilitation during the COVID-19 pandemic and how this has affected their worker ***: A descriptive, explorative qualitative research design was used, and semistructured interviews were conducted to collect data. The authors subsequently analysed the transcribed data using a thematic analysis approach. The COREQ (consolidated criteria for reporting qualitative research) checklist was used as a reporting guideline. Ten TBI survivors and two individuals working in the public health sector participated in this study. Two semistructured interviews were conducted with each research ***: Three themes emanated from the study, namely, Theme 1: "The barriers to accessing rehabilitation during the COVID-19 pandemic" represents the participants' barriers to accessing rehabilitation programmes throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Theme 2: "Lack of rehabilitation negatively influenced the individual with TBI occupational performance" describes how the lack of OT rehabilitation during the COVID-19 pandemic impacted the participants' quality of life. 摘要： Background: Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) may induce neurological issues, impacting brain structure and stroke recovery. Limited studies have explored its effects on post-stroke rehabilitation. Our study compares brain structure and connectivity, assessing rehabilitation outcomes based on pre-stroke COVID-19 infection. Methods: A retrospective analysis of 299 post-stroke rehabilitation cases from May 2021 to January 2023 included two groups: those diagnosed with COVID-19 at least two weeks before stroke onset (COVID group) and those without (control group). Criteria involved first unilateral supratentorial stroke, <3 months post-onset, initial MR imaging, and pre- and post-rehabilitation clinical assessments. Propensity score matching ensured age, sex, and initial clinical assessment similarities. Using lesion mapping, tract-based statistical analysis, and group-independent component analysis MRI scans were assessed for structural and functional differences. Results: After propensity score matching, 12 patients were included in each group. Patient demographics showed no significant differences. Analyses of MR imaging revealed no significant differences between COVID and control groups. Post-rehabilitation clinical assessments improved notably in both groups, however the intergroup analysis showed no significant difference. Conclusions: Previous COVID-19 infection did not affect brain structure or connectivity nor outcomes after rehabilitation.

摘要： The Caribbean stock markets have been largely ignored by scholars, partly due to the conventional view of a weak and inefficient system, and low integration to the world financial system. This paper examines the major announcements related to COVID-19 as exogenous shocks and their impacts on stock market returns in the two most developed stock markets in the Caribbean region. Using the standard event methodology and a dynamic difference in differences model, we confirm a significant decline in stock returns in response to negative announcements of COVID19-related news. Other positive news such as the announcements of re-opening of the economy and vaccine had a positive impact on stock returns. The Jamaica stock markets are likely to be weakly efficient and exhibit low responsiveness to major COVID-19-related events and news. Most sectors in the Caribbean economy experienced significant losses to stock returns resulting from these shocks. The banking, conglomerates, and property sectors continued to be subdued in the face of continued uncertainty and unpredictability of the overall impact of COVID-19. The energy and communication sectors seemed to be either the most resilient or most asymmetrically informed sectors as they are found not to be affected by COVID-19-related announcements. The manufacturing, property, and non-banking sectors are found to recover quickly from the shocks. Our analysis provides further insight in terms of portfolio investment strategies in the Caribbean region.

摘要： Disasters, including epidemics, have a characteristic course, both in terms of the specific events and the human reactions to them. However, it is difficult to predict whether the COVID-19 pandemic will eventually lead to an increase in suicide rates. We aimed to provide a general pattern of the change in suicide rates in the countries linked to the European Union by direct comparison of the years 2019 and 2020 by gender and age group, grouped according to the predominant religions. Overall, 27 countries were included in the analysis. Incidence rate ratios and their 95% confidence intervals were calculated to characterise annual changes in the incidence of suicide deaths. In almost two-thirds of the countries studied, suicide rates did not increase. The largest increases were observed in Catholic-majority and 'mixed' Catholic-Protestant countries, but this was significant only for the oldest age group (over 65 years). This increase was even more marked within some Catholic-majority countries (Hungary, Ireland, and Spain) during the first months of the pandemic. There was no statistically significant increase overall in the suicide death rates in Europe. However, the pattern of suicide rates has changed significantly in some countries, and by age group and religion, respectively.

摘要： Background: This report describes a case of bilateral transient myopia with a shallow anterior chamber and ciliochoroidal detachment following severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection and indapamide intake. Case presentation: A 37-year-old man with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) was referred to our department due to bilateral blurred vision. The patient had been treated with ibuprofen for fever and indapamide for uncontrolled blood pressure. After four days of indapamide intake, the patient complained of bilateral visual blurring. On ocular examination, his uncorrected visual acuity was 20/400 in both eyes. Slit-lamp examination revealed shallow anterior chambers. The following day, the patient experienced pain and redness in both eyes, which began the previous night. Ocular examination revealed a significant decrease in intraocular pressure (IOP) compared to the previous day: 11 mmHg and 12 mmHg in the right eye (OD) and left eye (OS), respectively. Slit-lamp examination revealed conjunctival injection and the presence of inflammatory cells (2 +) in the shallow anterior chambers of both eyes. Ultrasound biomicroscopy revealed ciliary body detachment and B-scan ultrasonography showed peripheral shallow choroidal detachment in both eyes. Discontinuing indapamide and initiating treatment with oral prednisolone, topical tobramycin dexamethasone and tropicamide phenylephrine eye drops resulted in the rapid recovery of signs and symptoms after three days. Discussion and conclusions: Indapamide intake may contribute to bilateral ciliochoroidal detachment, with SARS-CoV-2 infection possibly increasing susceptibility to drug-induced side effects. Timely drug withdrawal and symptomatic treatment can result in a good prognosis.

摘要： The centenary cycle of pandemics has produced structural and systemic changes in society. The pandemics of cholera (1820s) and Spanish flu (1920s) forcibly adjusted policies and practices in medicine, health, nutrition, aesthetics, architecture and town planning. When the COVID-19 (2020) pandemic impacted the Philippines with lockdowns and quarantines, Filipinos were socially straightjacketed, but they creatively evolved the ways of survival. This study introduced a mapping matrix that wove heritage attributes into the cycle of a pandemic. Documenting COVID-19 coping narratives in social media, the objective was to plot the intersections of heritage taxonomy (natural, built, intangible and movable) against Shah’s (2016, Pandemic: Tracking contangions from cholera to Ebola and beyond) cycle of pandemic (origin, transmission, condition, community, management, scapegoat, cure and recurrence). With the stringent physical limitations imposed by the government, data were generated for 2020–2021 through social media accounts, personal observations and mobile phone conversations. This contextualization captured compelling heritage case studies on survival and resilience mechanisms that emerged across the country. On hindsight, the pandemic was a dramatic rupture in the Philippine society that innovated heritage-based programmes of sustainability and revived Filipino values of nobleness and humanity.

摘要： Data Journalism and the COVID‑19 Disruption offers an international, multidisciplinary account of how and to what extent the COVID‑19 pandemic has been a blessing for data journalism. Bringing together insights into current developments in data journalism during (and since the onset of) the COVID‑19 pandemic from world‑leading data journalism practitioners and academics, this book draws on case studies and examples from different countries to critically reflect on emerging data journalism practices during the pandemic and their sustainability and implications for journalism and newsroom work in the post‑pandemic era. The chapters document changes in the practice and integration of data journalism into newsrooms and the 24/7 news cycle after the unexpected onset of the pandemic and explore how newsrooms and journalists are coping with the sudden and immense demand for data journalism and related challenges. 摘要： This study discussed the SEIHCRD mathematical model with social distancing and mass testing for the spread of COVID-19. The model consists of seven subpopulations, namely a subpopulation of susceptible individuals (S), a subpopulation of exposed individuals (E), a subpopulation of infected individuals (I), a subpopulation of hospitalized individuals (H), a subpopulation of critical individuals (C), a subpopulation of recovered individuals (R), and the subpopulation of individuals who died (D). Dynamic analysis was carried out by determining the equilibrium point, local stability analysis of the equilibrium point, and the basic reproduction number (R0). The results of the dynamic analysis obtained two equilibrium points, namely the disease-free equilibrium point (E0) and the endemic equilibrium point (El ). The equilibrium point E0 is locally asymptotically stable if R0l. Sensitivity analysis was carried out to determine the parameter that affect on the basic reproduction number. Based on the results, it is found that parameter of social distancing and mass testing has a negative sensitivity index, which means that by increasing the value of these parameters, so R0 will decrease. Then, numerical simulations shown that when R0l the solution goes to an equilibrium point El. The SEIHCRD model simulation with social distancing and mass testing which is applied to daily cases in Indonesia had the results that effectiveness of social distancing in Indonesia is 55% and mass testing is 20%.

摘要： BackgroundPost-COVID Condition (PCC), also known as 'Long COVID,' refers to persistent symptoms following a coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection. The prevalence of PCC in children and adolescents varies, impacting multiple body systems and affecting daily functioning. Specialised paediatric hubs were established in England to address the needs of young individuals with PCC. Additional local services also emerged, yet patients report challenges accessing services. To better understand the landscape of paediatric PCC services, we used a novel methodology using a web-based systematic *** web-based search was conducted in July 2023 using DEVONagent Pro. Search terms related to Long COVID and Pediatrics in England. Eligible sources providing information on PCC services for children and young people were included. A supplementary manual search and NHS England Post-COVID Network were also consulted. Data extraction included service location, characteristics, and referral pathways. Population estimates were derived from UK Census *** 342 identified records, 27 services met eligibility criteria, distributed unevenly across regions. Specialised hubs covered 13 locations, while additional services were concentrated in the South of England and London. Services varied in team composition, age range treated, and support offered. A lack of standardised approaches for paediatric PCC was *** used a novel methodology for systematically mapping online resources, providing valuable insights into service accessibility and aiding the identification of potential gaps. We observed geographical disparities in access to paediatric PCC services and the absence of standardised approaches in managing symptoms.
